UFO Sightings In Ancient Times

Incredible but undeniable phenomenon of UFOs has been described in the Holy Bible, Hindu religious texts, in reports of the Roman authors like Pliny the Elder, and Shakespeare.

We learned about “fiery chariots,” “angels with wings,” and “cherubim” in the New and Old Testaments, and from ancient manuscripts found in monasteries and a valuable papyrus manuscript found among the papers of the late Professor Alberto Tulli, former director of the Vatican Egyptian Museum.

In Chapter 13, verse 21 of the Book of Exodus, ” it is written that. . . the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.”

Did God send a spaceship to guide the Israelites during their 40-year journey to the Holy Land?

‘Castles in the air’ or magnificent ‘flying fortresses’ are described in other monumental literary works dating back to the third to fourth centuries AD. In ‘Revelation’ 21, of the Bible is described an aerial city of ‘pure gold’. The city in the sky was like transparent glass’.

Livy, Dio Cassius, Plutarch and Pliny believed that omens in the skies were Gods’ signs or warnings of great events. In 461 BC, the skie was seen to glow mysteriously and people saw strange phantoms, which terrified them. In 344 BC as Timoleon of Corinth, (died after 337 BC), Greek statesman and general sailed to free Sicily from the Carthaginians the heavens burst open and a torch appeared, it accompanied his ships to Italy.

Curiously, in 234 BC when the Gauls invaded Italy, three moons were seen at Rimini and earlier in 223 BC in Ariminium, a light like the day blazed out at night, in many parts of Italy three moons came visible in the night-time. One of the great sightings of antiquity is the event that was observed in 214 BC ‘at Hadria, an altar was seen in the sky and aboutit the forms of men in white garments…’

In 173 BC, at Lavinum the appearance of a great fleet was seen in the sky. At Priverno [in central Italy] grey wool covered the ground. And a similar fall of wool in Central Italy was reported by Pliny in 49 BC.

Was this white wool the so-called Angel’s Hair , a mysterious substance known throughout history? Julius Obsequens in his work Book of Prodigies describes the wonders and various signs and warnings that occurred in Rome between 249 BC-12 BC.

Ancient ufo sighting Switzerland
‘Large black Globes’ appeared in the skies over Basel, Switzerland in 1566. It is held at the Wickiana Collection, Zurich Central Library. Samuel Coccius illustration. Zurich Central Library.

He mentions a torch-like phenomenon observed in the west and three suns, which may have been celestial phenomena or a UFO watching troubled times of ancient Rome.

Another sighting he mentions is “something like a sort of weapon, or missile, rose with a great noise from the earth and soared into the sky.”

In 12 BC, people observed a comet hung for several days over Rome. The phenomenon then, dissolved into flashes resembling torches.

Mysterious multiple suns were seen in the sky over many countries in ancient times. In 19 BC nine suns seen over Kyushu island, Japan had certainly troubled the Japanese and several centuries later, probably the same ‘suns’ appeared over Switzerland and this sky phenomenon was recorded by Lycosthenes, an Alsatian humanist and encyclopedist:

‘In 1523, in Switzerland during May three suns and various circles were seen at the same time in the sky,’ and in 1527, not far from Kaufbunna, a town in Swabia, in southwestern Germany, similar (or the same) three suns accompanied by various celestial circles we observed by people, Lycosthenes reported.

Were these suns atmospheric phenomena or UFOs observing us during critical times?

Was a world-wide extraterrestrial surveillance taking place at the global level and in individual countries?
