On September 6, the Sun unleashed the largest flare we’ve seen in the last 12 years. As expected this caused a spectacular auroral display here on Earth.
A photographer in Finland managed to take some shots of a stunning aurora shaped like a bird. The images were taken over Rovaniemi, Lapland.
“I was driving home from another location, and those lights were so bright I really had to stop and shoot some more photos. The full moon dampened the lights a bit but still a very vivid display!” photographer Jani Ylinampa said.
