CRACKPOT CONSPIRACY UFO hunters spot ‘ancient alien temple’ in new photos of Mars – but it’s probably just a big rock

LOONY conspiracy theorists are at it again – and this time they think they’ve found an ancient alien temple on Mars.

New photos of the red planet appear to show strange structures on its surface, and they’ve sent online crackpots into a frenzy.

In the images, taken by Nasa’s Curiosity rover, a tall structure resembling a tower can be seen on top of a hill.

According to some online prattlers, this is evidence that Mars once hosted an advanced alien civilisation that worshipped a higher power.

Prominent conspiracy theorist Scott C Waring wrote on his blog UFO Sightings Daily: “I was looking through this weeks uploads made by the Curiosity Rover and found that in the distance was a ancient temple structure built on a hilltop.

“The structure has five or more levels, each one getting smaller than the one before it.

“The top level being the highest. The main structure at the top of the levels looks like a pyramid with the top built flat.

“Each level has a flat perfectly horizontal top so that someone or something can walk on it.

“I believe the rover will not investigate this because NASA’s true mission is to drop feed the public boring information about space so it satisfies them, but keeps the public in the dark about the true nature of the surface of Mars.”

However, it’s far more likely the “temple” is simply a rocky hill that strikes an unusual silhouette, according to one alien expert.

Nigel Watson, author of ‘UFOs of the First World War’, denounced Waring’s claims as “science fiction”.

He told The Sun: “If this is a temple it would imply this was built by an intelligent civilisation that had a religion and an organised form of worship.

“Such ideas are better suited to the pages of science fiction, as this evidence just shows a rocky hill with a flat top.

“It is only in the viewer’s brain that this becomes a temple – obviously a case of too much exposure to ‘Raider’s of the Lost Ark’ than to commonsense!”
