The bizarre object which is visibly casting a huge black shadow showed up on images captured by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO).

This £5.6 million multi-purpose spacecraft circulates the Red Planet taking pictures and creating maps – sending the data back to the space agency.

In amongst its fascinating images from outer space, a YouTube channel Mars Moon Space TV has zoomed in on footage from the MRO and singled out a large white sphere.

It is near a ridge that was once believed to be under water millions of years ago, reports Mirror Online.

The video narrator said: “It truly, truly doesn’t look like it belongs there. Look at the colour of it, look at the shape of it.”

He asks: “How much more proof do we need to tell the world that there is something on Mars that is not created by nature?”

One person commented on video: “Whatever it is, it is very tall. Round, almost an egg shape structure.”

Another said: “Great find but if it is artificial, there should be others around.”

And it’s not the first time eagle-eyed space fans have spotted something they believe is out of place on the martian planet, which some people claim is home to gigantic alien bases and littered with dead alien bodies.

In this instance a “giant spoon” was allegedly spotted in images snapped by NASA’s Mars Rovers, prompting suggestions it was “probably left over from a lost civilisation”.
