Scots make 33 reports of UFO potential sightings in past year

Around 33 potential UFO sightings were recorded across Scotland during 2020.

The North West UFO Group has collated information that was reported to specialist alien investigation organisations in the UK.

Research found that Lanarkshire was the most popular area in Scotland for UFO sightings, with a total of nine reports recorded over the year.

Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire came in behind with each local area recording five reports in 2020.

UFO reports spiked in April, as 11 possible sightings were recorded that month.

A UK-wide jump in UFO sightings during April has been attributed to the launch of SpaceX’s Starlink satellites.

Reports made throughout the year ranged from people spotting ‘triangle shaped objects’ in the air to unusual objects ‘punching a hole in the sky’.

The North West UFO group has listed the nine most notable sightings made in 2020 across Scotland.

January 8 – Lerwick – Witness saw a large triangle shaped object travelling across the sky, accompanied by two smaller triangular objects.

January 21 – Peterhead – Two reports were made of a strange object which punched a hole in the sky above the north sea.

March 22 – Kilmarnock – Witness was taking photographs of the night sky when this bright object appeared which was only visible on his camera.

April 4 – Cumbernauld – Witness was driving from Annathill to Cumbernauld when he noticed a very bright white light in the sky off to the side of the road. He watched it for over five minutes as the object changed from orb-shaped to cylindrical with moving lights. It made no notice and disappeared leaving a circle of red and white.

May 5 – Coatbridge – Object was witnessed travelling on a curved path, then made an ‘S’ shape before hovering in place and then ascending out of view to the east.

May 14 – Glasgow – Orange / red coloured orb flying across the sky.

May 15 – Arbroath – Two saucer shaped lights zipped across the sky at phenomenal speeds together, as if attached. This happened numerous times from 11:30pm until 3am

July 22 – Glasgow – Witness saw these three lights in a triangle shape zooming towards them before they stopped above them. They then merged into on big light and zoomed away, making no sound.
