Irvine mum snaps picture of UFO hurtling towards earth

The mysterious object was spotted above Irvine on Saturday night just after 7pm.

Was it a bird? Or was it a plane? Neither it would appear.

But mystery still shrouds an unusual object spotted in Irvine’s skies over the weekend.

The image of the UFO taken by a Bourtreehill resident has led to a hoard of online speculation as to what the object could be.

Heather Stewart, 35, managed to grab a picture of the ‘fireball’ on Saturday at around 7.06pm.

The mum-of-three said she thought it was a wind-up after her son excitedly told her about the mysterious item hurtling towards earth.

“My son Andrew was out in the street playing and they were all pointing up at the sky,” Heather said.

“I came outside and he came running over to me and said ‘mum, mum look at that, it’s a meteor.’”

She added: “And you just sort of dismiss it at first but I looked out and I couldn’t believe it. It was like a big moving fireball.

“But after seeing it, I went to see if there were any plane crashes or anything like that and I’ve been looking on the internet as to what it could have been.”

Some have suggested that the image may be reflected light, while others believe it could have been a piece of material from an aircraft.

But the source of the object in the sky still remains a mystery.
