UFO sightings over Eastriggs

UFOs have been spotted in the skies over Eastriggs.

Sightings of mysterious orbs, flying saucers and even Star Wars-style battleships have been reported to the Ministry of Defence in the last 17 years.

Secret files, released by the MoD last week, show the most recent extra-terrestrial “event” happened over the Annandale and Eskdale village as recently as 2009.

The person behind the claims, whose name has been withheld by government authorities, told defence chiefs: “I was photographing two jets going in different directions when I saw three large spaceships.

“When the picture is blown up two of them look like battleships from a Star Wars film. To me they’re the mother of all space crafts.”

In December 2009 the MoD closed its so-called “UFO Desk” because it served “no defence purpose”. Since then they have regularly released the details of claims made. Last week’s reopened file is the last to be made public.

In it the local person, known by defence staff as “a believer”, questioned how long the MoD had known about the Earth being visited by aliens.

The believer said: “I’ve been interested in UFOs since my school days and would like to know how far back the MoD has known these space craft have been popping in and out of our planet, buzzing beside our aircraft or just floating at slow speed?”

The UFO hunter reported sightings in 2007 and 2008. These followed reportings of a “frisbee-shaped” object hovering in the sky in 1996.

The believer added: “I watched it for about 20 minutes. It was black with no port windows, no strobe lights, and no sign of where the engines were, as one would on any aircraft. No sound at all.

“This UFO would be about 40 to 60 feet circular. The height from the bottom to the top part was 15 to 20 feet. It was about 500 to 1,000 feet above me.

“It went over the Solway coast into England.”

Jennifer Alexander from Eastriggs, Dornock and Creca Community Council was slightly more cynical when it came to the claims.

She said: “Whoever witnessed these things believes them. People see what they think they see – but I’ve never seen anything like that as long as I’ve been living here.”
