Traces of a civilization unknown to science discovered in Tibet

Members of a scientific archaeological expedition in China discovered ancient rock carvings while exploring the Namtso Lake area in Tibet. Stone tools and tombs were also found near the drawings. Experts are convinced that these artifacts may indicate the existence of a mysterious ancient nomadic civilization in that area.

Scientists have discovered an entire cluster of petroglyphs in the north of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, CGTN reports. Presumably, the authors of these drawings are ancient nomads who were in close contact with other ethnic groups. A cultural exchange took place between the nomads and these other people.

In addition, in the rock carvings, motives characteristic of the ancient Chinese can be traced. Obviously, the nomads also had contact with the Han people.

Archaeologists managed to find inscriptions made in the form of Chinese characters. At that time, writing already existed in China.

Scientists believe that in the area of Lake Namtso there was a mixture of different cultures, since it was located right on the ancient Silk Road.

Also, the nomads made sacrifices. Traces of their rituals have been found by scientists. Who exactly the representatives of the ancient civilization worshiped remains to be determined.

Earlier it was reported that scientists found 28 viruses unknown to science in ice samples 15 thousand years old. To determine them, specialists had to create a special research method.
