UFO in Colquitt County?

By Jennifer Emert

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Lights in the night sky over Colquitt County have some wondering if they’re being visited from outer space.

Turns out those lights are likely part of a training mission for airmen at Moody Air Force Base in Lowndes County. This is likely what most have seen, the A-10 C Thunderbolt 2, better known as a Warthogs, performing training missions over Colquitt County.

The planes are often referred to as tank killers because they fly silently at low altitudes performing counter manuevers like this one. For training purposes they drop flares, about the size of a magic marker, that glow like fire balls.

It represent how they would deploy their defense mechanisms. The group is preparing for a deployment overseas. The training will likely continue throughout the week.
